I am not a control freak, apparently. I let my kids direct their own show, own orchestra, own choreography. I must be weird, or very secure. The shows were good, not great, but good. Lost 450 bucks on them. Live and learn!Cross town rivals only do competition show and a musical each year (we do 7 shows). Their director is very controlling, and, coincidentally a good actress who did a community show with me has not gotten a part with them at all this year. Same kid also won the Pageant we held (1,000 first prize in scholarships). Her teacher walked out when told, by the pageant director, that she could NOT coach MAO candidates on the day of the pageant backstage. Could a director/teacher be so petty as to not cast a kid who has chosen to expand her horizons? I could not care less where my kids get their experience. I don't care if they hate me. I will not ignore a kid because she disses me, in fact, the one who read me the riot act for not putting her on One act team this year was offered the chance to direct Charlie Brown. Did a great job!! Put together a great show. Now doing Joseph with us and giving me more than ever. Am I that different? Are all High School directors self centered, petty children?
I think you have the right approach thats for sure. :)
